A Little Improvement Goes a Long Way

Small businesses are bearing the brunt of the domestic recession and for many they are fast running out of credit and customers to survive another 12 months like the one we have just come through. But for some there are shoots of hope appearing. A survey carried out by County Enterprise Board Central Co-Ordination Unit of Enterprise Ireland has found that in the last quarter of the year 5% of small businesses have improved their outlook on the overall business environment in Ireland for the year 2011.

Another change has been in the turnovers recorded by small businesses which they also anticipate   will increase in the coming months. Both these figures while small in the grand scheme of the problem are still good news for our economic outlook and give rise for hope.

A more positive sentiment within the small business sector will hopefully translate to a confidence to hire “one” in the first quarter of 2012.  If the 5% cited above can make the pledge to take the right person on to help them grow their business, Ireland will be well on the way to being back in business 12 months from now.
